16 Schools with over 200 athletes and coaches in two locations!

On June 5th and 6th, SE Michigan FCA hosted it's fifth annual Metro Detroit Basketball Team Camp at two different locations. Rochester Christian University was the site of the first team basketball camp five years ago. They were gracious to allow us to come back this year. Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest High School was the other planned location. Three weeks before the start of camp there was water damage to their gym floor. Another location was desperately needed. Fortunately, we were able to find a second location. A great big thank you goes out to Dave Charter and his team at Oakland Fieldhouse.  They were great hosts and allowed us to utilize two of their four courts. This year’s camp had 16 teams competing over a two-day period. We added a tournament format to the second day.  Varsity teams from Oakland, Macomb, and Lapeer counties participated. This was a true collaborative effort. Many seeds were planted this year through our efforts. Many relationships were established and cultivated. We are excited to see what the Lord is going to do with this event in the future!

Macomb County Representation: Chippewa Valley, Utica Ford (girls), Harper Woods (girls),

Lapeer County Representation: Imlay City

We were also blessed to have two outstanding guest speakers at our camp. A special thank you Jonathan Wynne, Chaplain for the Detroit Pistons and Educational consultant for Detroit Public Schools. His message of how we can prove our faith in Jesus and how it fits into the Gospel was amazing!

You prove your faith inward by your character. You prove your faith outward by your conduct. What authentic actions is God telling you to do?

Oakland County Representation: Birmingham Brother Rice, Clarkston, Avondale (boys and girls), Pontiac, Troy, Rochester, Hazel Park; Southfield Christian, Ortonville Brandon, Bloomfield (girls), Oxford.

Teams were assigned a character coach that served as FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) ambassador. We were blessed to have 16 amazing men and women who gave of their time and talents to serve. They guided the coaches and athletes into intentional time that included a sharing of their own personal testimony and a follow up after the Gospel was shared with the camp.

A special thank you Mike Massucci, founder of AEO Leadership and teacher for Bloomfield Schools. He designed his message around FCA's four core values: Integrity, Serving, Teamwork, and Excellence.

You can strive for excellence in all things as a follower of Jesus Christ. It starts with integrity. Who you are when no one is looking. Jesus is concerned with the person on the inside. How you see others and meet needs is all part of serving. Teamwork is about being secure in your role and your abilities. Excellence is a byproduct of the first three core values. They work together to produce fruit for the Kingdom in our sport.

Congratulations to the Clarkston Wolves, the 2026 Metro Detroit FCA Team Camp Champions. They defeated a challenging Rochester team in the finals at RCU.

Congratulations to the Avondale Lady Jackets, the 2026 Metro Detroit FCA Team Camp Champions. They defeated a challenging Utica Ford team in the finals at RCU.
